The first thing I need to say is that I love music majors. The other day we were singing the opening song for Old Testament, and a kid who is a music major got up, and started playing the piano. So funny. He did it with so much zeal, so much fervor, so much gusto. (I realize those are all basically the same word.) But it was just funny to sing "How Great Thou Art" hymn style (opposed to choir arrangement style) with crescendos, decrescendos, svartsandos (spelling major!), and all those good things. Fermatas too!
Last night I attended one of the best lectures I have ever been to in my life. One of my professors here, Brother Andrew Skinner is a knowledgeable man. He gave a lecture on "The Dead Sea Scrolls," and it was incredible. We get to go to a few different places where they were discovered, as well as go to an exhibit at the Israeli Museum that I can't remember if they reproduced the scrolls, or if they are actual remnants. (Shows how well I payed attention.) But as I was sat there, learning about these treasures, I kept thinking to myself, "how I wish I had prepared better before I came."
Overall, that is the general feeling I experience almost everyday. I wish I would have been better prepared, with even the basics. What a good analogy for the coming of Christ. I hope that as I am studying here the things I learn will be planted in my memory and will help me become a better person. That way when Christ does come, I will be prepared, unlike my experience in coming here. Being prepared when Christ comes- now that's something to be excited about.
You are learning so many wonderful things it is hard not to be a little jealous! I miss you so much, it was great to see the pictures. Have fun, keep learning and sharing with all of us. Love and kisses, mom
ReplyDeleteSomehow those pictures don't bring to mind Wyoming! I am like your mom -- jealous! And that is not just for the experience of being there but also for the chance to learn from teachers who are so well versed in the Bible. Everyday sounds amazing. The time is going to fly by.
